I love this quote - I have heard my mom use it before and have always thought it was really funny.
It also makes me think about the question - "Where are you from?" We got this alot being in Estes Park this past week; I am sure b/c there are so many people visiting this beautiful place. What I noticed though, was when anyone asked me this questions, I could not answer. I seemed to always defer to Daniel to answer for me. It was like I was "tongue tied". Daniel would always respond "Dallas" and to me, it never seemed to be the correct answer......
I think, or I realized why I had difficulty answering this question. Where am I from? Certainly not Dallas, but that is where I live..... I kept wanting to say and maybe this is why I stopped, "San Antonio" but that is not where I live.......See why I got tongue tied.
So I realized. Where you are from, doesn't necessarily mean where to do you live. Well at least it doesn't to me.
I am super happy in Dallas and really like it. The traffic sucks and I think it is hotter (but apparently the winter is colder......). It has given Daniel and I a chance to spread our wings, get out from under the "nest". It has also provided different and maybe better opportunities that were not available in San Antonio. You never realize you miss something, until you don't have it anymore. Is it b/c our family is there? - probably has something to do with it. But I think also, it is the place I have lived the longest, the place I know the best and overtime and without realization, I have claimed it in my heart as home.
I am sure this will change over time, I will start to know my way around and not always have to rely on the toll road. I will begin to meet people that will show me different things about the city that at this point I am clueless about and this will happen the longer we live here. But for now "home" is still San Antonio.
I remember when we broke the news of our move to our family and it trickled down as it always does. My Uncle Phil said to Daniel, "ya we moved away for about 10 years to Houston, but we eventually came home"....... (I guess his heart was in SA as well)
Pics of Estes Park to come soon - we had an amazing time and lets just not talk about the weather.....
